Have the vehicle's make, model, year, engine details, mileage and service records ready. Replacement intervals and requirements are vehicle-specific. A general mileage figure from another vehicle is not a reliable basis for planning your own timing work.

Agree the scope clearly

Timing-related work may involve associated components as required by the vehicle and inspection. Ask reception to explain what is included in the estimate, which parts are specified and whether any additional items need assessment.

Timing work is not automatically included in a routine service. It must be planned and quoted as part of the agreed scope.

Keep a record

After the work, keep the invoice and service record with the vehicle's history. Ask reception about the next scheduled maintenance requirement and raise any uncertainty about previous timing work when booking.
